Privacy Policy

My Gift Brain is built by MVCS ApS ("we", "us"). This policy describes what information the My Gift Brain iOS application (the "app") collects, how it's used, and the rights you have over it.

Short version: we built this app so you don't have to give us your data. Your gift ideas, the people you love, and your photos never leave your iCloud account. We have no servers that store your content, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.

1. What we collect

What stays on your device and in your iCloud

Everything you create in the app (people, gift ideas, photos, notes, dates, preferences) is stored locally on your device and synced through your own Apple iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. We, MVCS ApS, have no access to this data at any time. We cannot read it, export it, or recover it on your behalf.

What Apple collects

When you download the app or use iCloud sync, Apple processes that information under Apple's privacy policy. We see aggregate, anonymised sales reports in App Store Connect (total installs, total revenue, country-level counts), never individual customer data.

What we do not collect

• No analytics or telemetry SDKs.
• No advertising or tracking identifiers.
• No crash reporting to third parties.
• No contact uploads. When you import people from your iPhone Contacts, that happens entirely on your device.
• No email lists, no newsletters, no account system on our side.

2. Permissions the app requests

The app asks for the following iOS permissions, each only when you use the related feature:

• Notifications: to deliver birthday, anniversary, holiday, and per-idea reminders. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device.
• Camera: so you can photograph a gift idea in the moment.
• Photo library: so you can attach an existing photo to an idea.
• Contacts: to let you import people you already know, with their names, birthdays, and photos.
• Calendar: an optional feature that adds birthdays and anniversaries to a dedicated "My Gift Brain" calendar in the iPhone Calendar app.

You can revoke any of these at any time from iOS Settings. The app gracefully degrades without them.

3. How your data is stored

Your data lives in two places, both controlled by you:

• Locally on your iPhone, in the app's sandboxed database.
• In the private database of your Apple iCloud account, via CloudKit. This is the same mechanism Apple's own apps use. Encryption, access control, and data-at-rest protection are provided by Apple.

4. Payments

The app is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store under their standard billing rules. We never see your payment details.

5. Children's privacy

The app is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information about children. Because we don't collect any user information at all, no special processing is involved.

6. Your rights

Under applicable data-protection law (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation), you have the right to access, correct, and delete any personal data we hold about you. Because your data lives in your own iCloud and not on our servers, the practical way to exercise these rights is:

• Access and export: use the app's sharing features, or open your iCloud backup.
• Delete: remove the app from all your devices and disable iCloud sync for My Gift Brain in iOS Settings. Apple will purge the CloudKit records on its normal retention schedule.
• Questions about any records we might have (for example, a past support email you sent us): write to hello@mygiftbrain.app and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect new features or legal requirements. Material changes will be announced in the app and on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
